The MENTOR Initiative is a purpose-built initiative designed to strengthen the capacity of emergency-focused agencies and national partners to implement more effective and coordinated action to reduce malaria-related morbidity and mortality. In 2002 The MENTOR Initiative was developed by Richard Allan as a charitable “Not for Profit” organisation.

Since its inception it continues to work in close collaboration with the Roll Back Malaria (RBM) secretariat - Geneva, UNHCR, UNICEF, IOM, INGOs, ICRC, IFRC and national partners in emergency and refugee affected countries as well as with a network of academic and commercial partners.
